The MI-MCP-GB is designed to provide a manual alarm interface to the Morley-IAS ZX series intelligent multiprotocol fire alarm control panels. The units are fitted with a built-in monitoring module, which provides an interface to the detection loop. The address of the call point is simply “dialed in” using the rotary switches on the rear of the unit. The call points may be used in most environments as a convenient and quick way of raising an alarm. It is generally installed by exit doors to be operated as people leave a building. For surface mounting a M500KACGB, a matching plastic back box complete with cable terminations is used. If flush mounting is required a single gang, standard electrical knock-out box may be used in conjunction with a terminal tray for cable connection.

The MI-MCPW-GB is supplied with a back box and is suitable only for surface mounting. A micro-switch within the unit is held “off” by the edge of the glass. When the glass is broken the switch is released and a signal is transmitted to the control panel where the alarm is raised. The glass is plastic coated to eliminate any danger of splinters causing injury. A specialist test key (provided) may be pushed into the bottom of the unit to lower the glass and release the micro-switch, thus a full functional test is achieved.

The S200A photoelectric smoke detector has a completely new detection chamber design, the result of many years of research and development. This delivers improved responsiveness, reduced sensitivity changes caused by settling dust and reduced false alarms resulting from ingress of insect and other debris. The plug-in unit uses sophisticated processing circuitry that incorporates smoothing filters to help eliminate transient environmental noise conditions that can be the cause of unwanted alarms. The Morley-IAS range of intelligent thermal detectors are used with the ZX series intelligent multi protocol fire alarm control panels to measure thermal levels caused by a fire and report the analogue level of the thermal measurement to the control panel. The MI-FHSE and MI-HTSE are fixed temperature analogue addressable sensors employing low mass thermistors and microprocessor technology for fast response and linear temperature sensing. The MI-DMMI monitor modules are used with the Morley-IAS intelligent fire alarm control panels to provide a single input circuit from external devices. Each input is continuously monitored for normal, open circuit and alarm conditions.

Changes to the status of the input circuits are communicated to the panel where the appropriate actions may be undertaken. The MI-DMMI requires a single of the 99-possible module addresses available on a loop. It responds to regular polling from the control panel indicated by a pulsing LED every successful communication.

Morley-IAS’s new modular range of Intelligent AV warning devices provides easier system confi guration and fl exibility. A common base across AV and detectors is available, allowing for easier installation and ordering. These devices are all available with isolators, providing you with a fl exible approach and allowing for easier fault-fi nding on the loop. please see page 4 for more details. Individual tone and volume settings and sounder tone synchronisation can be adjusted from the panel enabling the sound intensity to be adjusted to suit the application. The common installation base , B501AP is supplied with a shorting spring. This allows for the continuity of wiring to be tested before installing any devices. The Morley-IAS devices can then be fi tted at the fi nal commissioning stage, reducing the risk of damage during the fi rst fi x. At fi nal commissioning the device is simply twisted into the base and the installation is complete.
This system provides a greater degree of fl exibility to system designers, provides a more robust solution and saves time for the installer as all devices are interchangeable without the need to disconnect or disturb the wiring.

The MI-DCMO can be used to operte dry contacts for door holders, air handling unit shut down or other similar functions. Optionally the module can be used to supervise wiring to the ouput load providing monitoring of the external load voltage or power supply. If the monitored voltage falls below threshold then a fault condition will be indicated. Each MI-DCMO uses one of the ninety-nine possible module addresses available on a loop. It responds to regular polling from the conrtol panel indicated by a pulsing LED every successful communication. On command from the control panel the MI-DCMO will disconnect the supervision and connnect the external power supply across the load. The disconnection of the supervision provides a positive indication to the control panel that the relay is activated. The MI-DCMO has a built-in isolator which may be switched out if required.
The MI-DCMO uses a unique mechanical design allowing each module to be mounted either in a wall box (M200-SMB) or on a DIN rail (using M200- DIN). Irrespective of the mounting method chosen, the address switch is both visible and accessible for selection. To help engineers in the maintenance and fault finding process, both the LEDs and the address switches can be viewed without having to remove the cover of the mounting box. The LEDs, being multi colour, provide diagnostic information regarding the status of the output. For ease of installation, testing and maintenance, the field wiring terminals are of a plug in design.

The MI-PTSE multi sensor combines optical smoke detection, heat detection and microprocessor control with analogue addressable communications. For smoke detection the MI-PTSE incorporates an improved sensing chamber design, linked to sophisticated processing circuitry with smoothing filters. This helps to eliminate the transient environmental noise conditions which can be the cause of false alarms. The sensor’s performance is further enhanced by the integration of special algorithms which automatically compensate for contamination of the sensing chamber. This enables the sensor to provide a consistent level of sensitivity and increased immunity to unwanted alarms
In combined modes of operation both the inputs from the optical and thermal sensors are processed using special algorithms before an alarm decision is made. If the presence of smoke is detected above a threshold value for a period of time, or if the heat sensor detects temperatures above 58ºC then an alarm condition will be generated. In “heat only” mode only temperatures above 58ºC will generate an alarm condition.
